Buying a 2004 S2000 ! Some questions
I have a 04 NFR!! Bought it when it had 54,500!! Now its almost at 80K! Wish it had less miles but I love driving this amazing machine!! In all the years I've owned it, all I've done to it is flushes and regular maint. Check the oil levels every now and then. I flushed my cooling system and brake fluid and diff and oil and trans fluid. Don't forget the clutch fluid either! Hasn't ever let me down! *Knock on wood* Best and most fun to drive car I've ever had! You'll enjoy and love this car. Its amazing how it handles and its overall fun to drive. I get compliments from a lot of people all the time. From young to older people, to male and females and even kids. I love this car and so happy that its mine!! Treat it well and it will take care of you! Best wishes!
I bought my gpw 04 wit 51k has 59k now, runs amazing, best year in my perspective, haven't had any issues, except for an occasionally pop out of 1st, but its every blue moon, nothing violent, only happens in a dead stop and cold fluid
I've had my 04 since it had 3k mi on it - I think the 04-05 are the best of the years stock for stock since they are pre-DBW but have all the other upgrades sans stability control.
The AP2 addressed a lot of issues with the first version of the car, including things like burning oil.

All S2000s burn oil, so check it often, no traction control and no drive by wire. 04 and 05 are virtually the same. As far as issues, I'll let the 04/05 owners answer that.
If the car's been taken care of, it shouldn't burn much oil, if any. The problem was definitely way more common on the AP1's though.Things I've had to worry about / replace on my 04:
- Clutch master cylinder went out around 70k miles. Check for moisture near / around the clutch pedal and carpet. The seals tend to break down and eventually will slowly leak brake fluid all over the place
- Retorque of the rear axle nuts, didn't have any issues but did it as preventative maintenance
- 2nd gear grind / pop out, it's always had it but it got significantly worse after I mis-shifted once while my CMC was going out and didn't fully disengage the clutch. Only way to mask the problem is to change the transmission fluid often, and as soon as I start getting grinds again flush and refill. I have a spare transmission just incase. Take your time while shifting...
04/05 is the best year, no VSC, no DBW, updated suspension geometry, best OEM wheel design, best interior (red/black two tone with head rest cut out), I'm not biased...

I love my 04, wish I could Hondata it though.
I own a 2004 sebring silver with red/black interior. I purchased it new november 2003.
I now have 67,000 miles on it now. Cannot think of a better roadster to have, I love this car still, and it maybe going up slightly in value.
Never, I repeat, Never burned oil, I drive 8,000 a year =/- and change oil twice a year myself, so I know there is no consumption.
I have adjusted valves twice, changed all fluid and fitlers regularly and the trans and diff fluids at 30,000, did brake and clutch fluid changes last year. Coolant changed once. Battery twice. Replaced front brakes and rotors once, and some minor trim pieces in the interior needed replacment.
Original clutch, twice it has poped out of 1st(in ten years!) when cold, I have no issues with that, but it can happen when cold starting out if you don't have it completely in first. Never lost a gear and I ALWAYS skip shift, like on level ground 1-3rd or going down a hill 1-4th.
Its important to hit vtec almost every day at least once, just to keep the car in good shape.
STill throttle by cable. No other mods except K&N added, killed the chime when the door is open and the key is in the ignition, and slightly wider front tires installed.
I do not know which is truely the best year but I think the 04-05 cars are a nice compromise between the newer car with traction control and the AP1.
I would buy this car again 1000 times.
