Default Buying one over 100k

Ok so I'm trying to get into a s2k and I have to spend $10000 or less. There are a lot of them over 100k and I'm wondering if it's a bad idea to buy one with this many miles. It will be for autox and possible track days if I can afford it. I've been reading up on here but there's so much info and I'm trying to make this happen here in the fall so I have the winter to pick up the stuff I need for next autox season. I'm pretty much willing to travel anywhere for the right deal, but it makes it hard to get a look at a car and go over it really good if I have to go 1000 miles to get it.

well despite the high revving high compression, the engine seems to be as durable if not more than your typical honda, until someone goes from 5th to 2nd and dumps the clutch. there is someone on here with well over 200k and still going strong.

besides if it is just your auto x toy, whats the big deal if the engine goes... i see them selling (used low-moderate miles) for a couple grand. That might change if the trend i saw at the last car show i went to continues, where an f20c seems to be swapped into every road worthy early rwd japanese car in sight. The s2k is easy to work on with a little 2.0 under that beautiful long hood, swapping a motor could be a weekend driveway affair.

i bought one that had over 140k and was in a flood and it ran like a top, lol

If the car checks out ok, runs fine, or has good service history then go for it

I'd go for it since that is that path I want to take. Cheaper and I can replace components with aftermarket components, ie slim fans, new top, suspense, new brake system etc. Just get it checked out as the other poster said, and the money you save can go to mods.
