They all looks good.

Spend your time and go thru all of seller's previous posts. (too bad, s2ki won't pull up thread made by member). See if seller had problems with the car and what they have done blah blah.

I will stay away from "if car had FI or motor build"

Btw, don't forget ask seller's feedback. Good luck finding one

Thanks for all the input. I am very excited but at the same time worried about getting a lemon or the wrong car.

How serious are you about autocross?

Things like aftermarket wheels and FI put you in a whole different classing league.

If you're a novice autocrosser and "go" is more important to you than "show," I'd get a stock S2000 and some good tires. Spend your money on autox schools rather than blingy wheels.

If you like bling and stoplight racing though, that's okay too. Different strokes for different folks.

Try and get a local S2000 guy / gal to help you out when you purchase. Try to get a ride in a local one autocrossing if you can. Do you have any in your region?

I just started autox last year and I am still in SI. about 1/3 of the people in our area are in SI and I like it better because I don't want to get all serious about it. So I don't have to worry about mods with the class. There are about 2 or so s2ks that go to the events in my area. I live in MN though and auto X won't start for a month or two yet and I can't make the first events until I'm done with class for the semester. I'm not really looking for "bling". in fact that is one of the reasons I am looking at an S rather than a 350z or similar car because people don't throw 25lb wheels on S's and there aren't dumbass kids driving them for the most part. If I get new wheels they will be lighter and most people would agree that 17in or 18 is better than 16. Wheels and tires combo are going to be the most important thing for a sports car so I didn't want to keep what is stock if that makes sense.

well it seems like a lot of the cars on this site keep getting sold quick. I have started to look more local. Do you think an 00-02 s2k with under 60k would be reliable? it seems like the prices of these cars went up quick. Also the main reason I was looking for a used one with mods was to get wheels and maybe an exhaust but it looks like almost everyone parts out the wheels and exhaust before selling.

60k mililes is really low for 00~02 yrs. I can not say it is reliable because every other cars are diff condition, but mine didn't give me any problem so far. Just a maint cost.

Thats good news. I can get one with a little bit more miles on for a lot less expensive. I just don't want to have to spend a ton on a new engine or tranny.

IMHO, anytime you buy a used car (especially a sports car), you should have enough money set aside for catastrophic repairs.

I am just trying to find out what the odds are for a major repair on this car and how much the repairs are. If they are reliable I wouldn't mind buying a slightly older one with more miles. If not then maybe I would be willing to pay extra for a newer one. I am just wondering so I can evaluate my options and get what is right for me. Also one of the reasons I was turned on to the s2k in the first place was because I heard it was one of the most reliable sports car out there.
