CAI- Worth it? Which one?
I have an Injen CAI and gave been very happy with it. But dyno says there was some increase in power (which is no longer noticable) but it's worth it for the sound if nothing else. Hitting vtec now sounds awesome. Almost scarry.
When i had my 00' si. I had the regular AEM CAI intake, and I bought the new V2 intake. The V2 was a waste of money, I could not tell a difference at all. I know it's different compared to the s2000, but if you ask me, I would not waste $250 on a V2 intake if you already have a cold air intake, but if you don't have one, just go ahead and buy it anyways. I got my CAI, for my s2000 for $40 off ebay, and i put a K&N Filter on it and it saved my alot more money, and the piping, is the exact same size as the injen CAI.
I had an intake on a 98 Integra GSR and I thought I noticed a power gain....even if it was a couple of horses. It was a no name one but I was happy with it especially the sound when I hit V-Tec.
I have been looking for a long time for an intake now for my S. I have done a lot of research and have looked at all the brands. As of yet I am still not convinced anyone particular product is better. I was going to get an AEM intake because of the look and that it was a named product, but since being on here I have decided to go with 4Igs CAI. I decided this for a couple of reasons, 1. He was significantly cheaper than the AEM, like 100 bucks cheaper. 2. He posted a dyno sheet which I believe proves that the performance from his CAI is equal to that of the AEM, I also like the gun metal look.
I have yet to purchase it because I am waiting to hear back from him on its availability, so I can not tell you 1st hand my experience with it.
But on the other side there were some issues that concerned me with the CAI, specifically hydrolock.
I read many articles, talked to service guys in the dealership, and also asked some friends about this. It is definitely something that can happen if you aren't careful or recognize its possibility. You will find many people who say it can not happen or won't, etc but can and if it screws something up it will not be covered under warranty.
Since my car sits in a garage and rarely sees the rain this really isn't too much of an issue for me and I have finally decided, after 6 months, to get a CAI. Hope this helps and doesn't just confuse you more.

QuickS,
I've heard of hydrolock being a concern, can you explain what happens and why a CAI makes this a problem, and also what I can do to keep if from happening if I go with a CAI? Thanks

I need some help...
I'm in Cali and so my concern about adding a CAI somewhat bothers me. I do want the "extra" bump in hp and the extra rumble towards VTEC, but I'm more concerned with passing inspections, etc. Can anyone help? I'm most likely going with the AEM and wanted to see what / where the best deal was? I was on AEM's site and I couldn't see when the V2 was coming out. Should I wait till the V2 comes out, or will I see any "real" diff. in the regular AEM CAI? Thanks.
