Not to also mention that the s2000 was never intended for drag racing. Carving up the mountain twisties or a autocross is where it shines. There are other Hondas that with the right mods will outhandle the S but the rwd experience is another feeling that you can't get from a Civic or Integra. If you think about it, Honda always focused on Handling over raw straight line acceleration. That's where Honda cars shine the most.

There is no other car with a better base from the factory than the S2000 that costs under $65,000. or even $85,000 for that matter. Yes you can make a civic or an integra as fast as a STOCK S2000, and handle as well as a STOCK S2000, but if you already OWN an S2000 then you are that much closer to a 500hp output than any integra or Civic. I've owned a couple of Integras by the way, and there is nothing like a Vtec engine in a rear wheel drive mid engined car with a 50/50 weight ratio. As Honda put it, the S2000 is the birthchild of an Integra Type R, and an NSX. You do the math.

Yes.

My 1996 Civic EX 4 door 5 speed got way better gas mileage than my S. It also carried 4 people (5 in a pinch) and had a comparatively monsterous trunk with fold down rear seats. Also, it was much more economical to drive. I only replaced the tires once (at about $40,000 miles) and I think I put on 4 new Pirelli P600's for about the same cost as one and a half new Potenza S-02's. Finally, it was a hell of a lot easier to lay rubber in the Civic. No revving the crap out of the car and worrying about frying the clutch. Just step off the clutch at 4K and watch those hard as hell Pirelli's smoke.

Seriously though, you can make the most garden variety Chevy Cavalier and absolute bullet in a straight line. All it takes is $, patience, and the willingness to give up all drivability and reliability. In the end, you're twin turbo, NOS equipped cavalier will probably spank an S. But as was posted earlier, the S is not a dragster. The beauty of the S lies in the sublime way that it handles, brakes, and accelerates.

your right da hapa, the S was never intended for dragging, but it sure as hell stays up very nicely/easily with the cars that are meant for straight line speed (Rx-7 300zxtt etc. im sure you know what other cars i was gonna put) it would just be crazy to see a tt s2k.

KwAktHeDucK,

Yes, almost every car may be modded in some way to wipe out most of the stock cars on the road. Civics are cheap and it doesn't take much to soup them up.
But the stock S2000 is not made to be a drag racer. It is about having fun, hugging the corners and enjoying driving. Doesn't matter how much money one dumps into a Civic driving a sedan will never feel like driving a small two seat roadster.

I got my S2000 because I loved the way it looked, and when I test drove it, I just fell in love and had to get it. I didn't get this car to race or turn it into a "rice rocket" but to enjoy what this car had to offer. I got everything I wanted in a sports car...and then some. My S is stock and has more than enough power for me. And going to the beach with the top down is just too cool. Especially when accompanied by a beautiful girl friend. So as you can see, i strongly recommend the S2000, so good luck on whatever you decide.

I drive a 2001 Civic around, and I've had faster. But with front wheel drive and no convertible top, what's the use? I haven't put a dime into performance mods. I don't want to be classified with all those ricers. The more I see what people do to their cars, the more it makes me want to puke! I get a lot of kids taking longing looks at my Civic, but I don't care. I want to be seen in a S2000!
