shaner,

Can you give me any info on the orange blinker bulb?

I dis-assembled my headlight housing last weekend to remove the amber lens. I would also like to stay "somewhat" legal with orange blinkers. I could not find an orange bulb that would work at the local auto parts store.

The bulb for US spec blinkers is a clear bulb

You are correct LATE, I called the DOT to check because some of the newer BMWs come with white up front. NO red or blue up front is permitted since these colors are reserved for emergency vehicles only. Again, I hate to sound this way, but I don't even care. To me, this is a cosmetic thing and my attorney could fix that ticket in 30 seconds flat (NMV). I just HATE orange (did I tell you fellas that earlier?...hehe), so ALL of it will be GONE in the near future...hehe.

S2KGuy:

Uhh, are you seeing a doctor for your condition?

I don't think I've ever encountered someone with such strong feelings against orange.

Hi Guys,

As I posted in the BeNeLux section:

Does anybody know what the physical difference is between the US and European HID lights? I am referring specifically to the different light patterns. (US is a flat line, EU has a flat line that tilts up in the middle outward to the side of the road...) Is there just a different Xenon bulb in them (with different connector???) or is there some piece of hardware difference that results in the special European "dipped beam" aka "passing beam"?

I am asking this because I have bought a US car and am taking it with me to the Netherlands in Oktober of this year. I like 'our' dipped beams better than the flat US pattern...

Any info is welcome!!

Hi S2Kguy,

Today I picked up my S2K!!! I am totally loving it!!!!!!!

Anyway, I noticed the pattern is somewhat staggered, but I thought that the left light is just aimed lower than the right one.

In any event, the EU lights are completely different, not staggered but every separate light has a inclining line at the right side...

Anybody who has the two lights 'side by side' on the workbench can tell me the difference??

Peter,

The euro lights are self levelling. I'm not sure whether this is a result of legislation, but quite likely. The same goes for the headlamp washers.

You may need to do some mods to your car to make it roadworthy in the EU.
