clutch slipping problem
Well, let me make the long story short.........went out sat night with friends......to one of our favorite hang out place and lots of hook up cars.....blah blah blah........I ended up running with a WRX with no exhaust, apex boost controler (running 17 psi), and intake. My car is stock.
I drop the clutch at 6.5k and i notice the clutch is slipping (I only have 10,400 miles on the car) Never really drag race much.......
Of course I lost the race since my car is stock and clutch was slipping.
My question is did I launch my car right ? or just the clutch is weak?

Correct me if I'm wrong but if he was running 17psi he would have beaten you no matter how good your launch.

He states that his car is stock, he knows he can't beat that particular WRX. I think he just worded it wrong...

There are a number of threads on how to launch properly but I'll tell you how I do it.
Depress the clutch at the bottom of the pedal with just the tip of your shoe. Lift your heel so it's not on the floor. Point your toes.
Bring the revs to about 5, 6.5 is a bit too high, and hold it there for at least a second.
When it's go time, quickly move you foot straight down slipping your toe off the bottom of the pedal.
Feather the throttle so you maintain no more than 6.5-7K RPMs.
You should get wheel spin but as the tires start to grab keep applying more throttle until they are getting solid traction. You should be at about 7K when they grab and you should now be at WOT.
Use only your toes and not the ball of your foot to press the clutch pedal. Keep your heel OFF the floor so you are pointing your toes. Release the clutch by moving your leg DOWN and not up, perpendicular to the pedal travel.
On a good launch you should feel the car's rear shift to the right about 1 foot and the wheels should spin for about 1 second and then you should be WOT in VTEC from there on. Using this technique you should be able to get your launch and chirp 2nd and 3rd and get a sub 14s 1/4 mile time.
The two mistakes people make are 1) moving your leg parallel to the pedal travel and 2) punching the throttle. If you do 1 right but 2 wrong then you'll spin your wheels to redline (fun but slow). Do 1 wrong and you'll slip the clutch.
