If I'm not mistaken, the filter that comes on the AEM V2 is very similar to the K&N filter, so it would be worthless to spend the money on the filter.

true, but if you needed to replace the V2 filter later, the K&N would be a good swap...

i used to have a cold aem v1 from stock to v1 cant tell the difference, so i replace it with arc box and chamber i felt the response a lot better , now i just got a test pipe , now damn it makes a big difference much lighter to drive the car, its a best mod for me so far....

btw just be careful when rain comes they are not too friendly with water, thats the other reason why i replace it with the arc..

The increased sound will make you drive the car harder = less mpg

There is no sound increase by just changing the filter, sorry.

And to say that you won't get better gas mileage due to harder driving isn't my fault. The filter will give you better gas mileage, as many other people on this forum have reported as well. Try a search

intakes DO give you better gas mileage IF you dont drive it faster and harder because you have an intake. The reason people get crappy gas mileage when they get an intake is because its louder ant WOT. Which makes people want to get to WOT, so, they expend much more fuel.

If you drive it economically (SP?) then the intake WILL save you mpg.

i'm not as familiar with s2k's as some of you, but in every car i've had, it really wasn't that big of a difference. power or mpg...or sound for that matter.
