Comptech Sc Upgrade
good stuff....
Cuz I just talked to a kid around the corner from me that's gonna sponsor me...
I can get the comptech s/c for 3k...
So with all the upgrades...how much should I be able to run on the stock motor?

No one said that you can't feel the difference between stock and a sc'd S2000, only that the price was not worth the benefit. I will say it again, the boost I got from about 5500 to 9000 rpms was fun and you could definitely tell the difference, but the $$ that it cost me (not to mention the voided warranty and shorter engine life) was not worth it.
Everyone has the right to their opinion. You are happy with your investment, so good for you. The more information that is shared on this board (good or bad), lets our fellow S2000 owners make informed decisions.
I am sure there are more Comtech SC Owners, who, if they had to do it all over again, would not have made the modification, or at least waited for a bolt-on SC or TC that provides boost lower in the RPM range.
The S2000 is a great car to drive with or without additional boost.

garyj,
Did you read Shaner's thread?
Also, I am not saying you should spend twice for only 50 more horsepower. What I am saying (in my opinion) that the Comptech SC is not worth the investment , for what you get (more top-end horsepower). Please go back and read Shaner's thread too as I am not the only one who is disappointed.
In my opinion, any solution that does not provide boost along the entire RPM Spectrum, is not worth the hassle and risk.
You obviously like your Comptech SC. Good for you, but don't try and twist my words. This forum is to share opinions and experiences, so other members can make informed decisions.
As you said, to each his/her own.
By the way, just because Comptech currently has the only bolt-on boost alternative, doesn't make it the right addition/enhancement for our cars.
You have had no problems with your SC and like it. I had nothing but problems and decided it was in my cars' best interest to remove it before it did any serious damage to my engine.
Both are valid opinions and both deserve merit to be heard on this board without someone picking them apart.

Gary,
Just FYI, the turbo is alot more than 50 hp at lower RPM's. You're talking about somewhere in the 1-1.5 sec. range quicker in the quarter, that's a huge difference. I launch at 4000 RPM's and spin the tires. I can pull out on to the highway doing about 40 mph in 2nd and stomp on it and my back end steps out. Quite a difference from the VTEC enhancer Comptech puts out.

It has been a while yes. Apparently while I was away people's opinions about performance mods to their cars have changed a bit (judging by this thread).
Maybe my viewpoint about leaving it pretty much stock will be a little better received this time around.
I hope all performance options for the S get discussed here. I also hope that a Turbo kit becomes available that can be legally used in every state. Some have to be willing to be the first ones to chance a mod - evidently we are some of those. I'm not down on any mod but I am careful what I do to my car - that's just me. Thanks to everyone that takes the time to provide interesting comments and comparisons!!!
