My dealership also denied the warranty at first saying it was vandalism even though the tear was obviously coming from the inside. Call up Honda Customer service and open a case. They sent someone to my dealership to take another look and within 5 minutes, the guy came back and said they'll cover it. Good thing too because the dealership quoted me a price of ~3k to fix.

that sucks, probably because you're out of the normal 36k bumper-to-bumper.

Have you tried another dealer or taking it higher with Honda? This makes no sense at all if you have wear in the same area as others. I bet it is your mileage as they figure you must have put the top up and down a lot over 48K.

I fail to see what a petition would do. Honda is well aware of this problem, it is well documented in "Tell Honda" which I am very confident that they read. Honda of America reviews these cases from the dealerships all the time.

A class action suit, on the other hand......

Now that I think of it, perhaps a petition might do some good as long as it is presented to Honda. Perhaps they can design some sort of preventative measure. All S2000s would benefit.
