Convince me to buy a S2000
Actually, having 2 seats is not a problem for me. Actually come to think of it practicality is not important to me except that I might need to keep the top on most of the time. Firm ride is not a problem for me though it is for my gf and mom I guess. I think the only thing tripping me up is the cost (loss of tax money I paid for my lude), the fact I might not be a good enough driver, and I really want to drive more, and the fact it rains a lot here.
I live in Vancouver too. The rain does take away fun of owning an S2000. From the indication you gave me. It sounds like the prelude is more for you. Where do you live in Vancouver though? Which route do you take that you found has lots of traffic?
Okay. I am really really tempted now. Besides knowing how much I need to pay and whether to lease or buy I want to know a few things.
1) Most of you planning to keep this car for a long time?
2) Would you still buy this car if it rains all the time?
3) Are checkups the same as the Preludes (ie. every 3 months) and it's not a full coverage warranty?
4) Is it a good car in traffic?
I'll get into the colours and accessories later. I know these questions have been asked before so sorry if I am asking them again. I've actually thought of trading up the first time I saw the car but haven't done so of course.

Howie.....honestly if you have to ask all of these questions, and question your decision over and over, I really doubt you will get maximum satisfaction out of the car.
There is no doubt that it will slaughter the Prelude in overall driving feel. However, some of the questions you bring up would make me believe that your thrill might vanish quickly.
You mention the possibility of wanting an automatic. I doubt there are many S2000 owners that have considered autos, unless it is a second car, and even then I wouldn't know why anyone would want one
As for smooth ride.....if you think your SH is a rigid ride....the S2000 will make the 'lude feel like an Accord Sedan.
I'll answer one of your questions. To me, the S2000 is a joy to drive in traffic. Simply because I love driving it anytime, and that means getting stuck in traffic sometimes. Do I love my VFR in traffic, having to put my foot down every 10 feet? Yes, because again, I love the bike. If you hate driving a manual in traffic, I don't think it matters whether it is an Insight or an NSX.
I am not trying to paint a messy picture.....it just seems that you are so worried about upsetting Mom, that it all might not be worth it if you end up in an unhappy relationship with the S2K.
The Prelude SH is a helluva nice car.....there will be other awesome cars in the future. You might want to wait until you are more sure about it.
Just my $.02

I agree with almost everything you said. I am worried about upsetting my mom and my family but not because of my possible relationship with the S2000 but the fact I'm ditching the Prelude so soon I think. I don't think I'll really love love any car. Not yet at least (haven't found one yet). I love my lude. I think I'll like the S2000 even better for sure. When it comes down to it, it really does come down to cost more than anything else I think. I do love driving the stick. I really want to drive well and learn to drive well. I don't like driving the automatic but it does offer some advantages. Again I'm really tempted and I think I might have a chance to look at it more as we are shopping for cars.
You voice concerns about your stick driving ability....might be better to learn and master it on the 'lude....that is a high enough performance car for someone who is a bit unsure of a stick.
I relate it to friends who want to start out motorcycle riding. I always tell them to buy used....learn on something that you won't cringe if you drop it. Of course, not all listen to me, but the ones who don't often end up telling me I was right in the first place, after a few hundred in body damage.
Oh and as for rain....I personally feel the S2000 is a top down car. My del Sol is perfect in rain/snow/cold....I love the hard top and the defogger (AND THE GLASS REAR WINDOW!!!). If I had to drive the S2000 year round as my only car I don't think I would have bought it. The convertible top is nice to keep dry, but once the nice weather comes the top will be down all the time.
Good luck with your decision.

Don't buy this car. No offense, but the car deserves a better owner than you. Where are you gonna park it? At the dorm? You're gonna use the awesome tranny of an S2K to learn how to drive stick? You're way to indecisive to own this car. This is a car that you need to be committed to. It isn't one that you say "well i think I want one, please convince me to get mommy to buy me one". Can I call you Chris? If you need us to convince you then you don't deserve this car. Be happy with your Prelude. It's a nice car in it's own right. After you graduate and get some balls then you can own an S.
