Cracked windshield!

Windshield cracks can typically be filled by a mobile glass repair place (like Safelite) if the crack is shorter than 6", about the size of a $1 bill.

Many insurance companies will waive your deductible to have it repaired like that so it costs you nothing out of pocket and your rates will not go up. I've had 4 cracks filled by a local repair guy and never had a problem.

Bigger than that and you need replacement.

Same thing happened this past summer to me... Here a tic off the windshield look over and a crack running from top to bottom... Thankfully MA requires glass as part of insurance coverage so the windshield was replaced for free

It's required in SC as well... And I always have to laugh when people say that it was replaced for free. Don't people realize it's not free if you're paying for it through higher premiums?

^ I hear ya... Free is never free it costs someone something... But it's nice to not have to shell out 200+ to fix the window unplanned...

i had this happen last year. turned out my insurance covered the repair at safelite for zero out of pocket. They made the nic all but disappear
