I've been in retail for a long time. Once in awhile we get one that sucks....

But I forgive them, take their money, stroke them if necessary and then chuckle all the way to the bank. Some of those sucky people have turned into long term accounts. They were just looking for a little personal attention.

I like them all. even the ones that suck.

I am located on the sales floor, have my own desk, computer and overlook the whole showroom floor. There is free coffee machines with catering service in the middle of the Pre-Owned sales floor. For some odd reason people seem to think that my Manager and I are responsible for Coffee and that we are not normal human beings.

We are in shock on how BMW customers act so I thought I would share with you....

1) Was on the phone with a customer and this black lady comes up to me, completely ignores that I am on the phone and proceeds to ask me. "Where is the water." I politely ask the customer to hold, and reply "right next to the 5 Series we have water fountain." She rolls her eyes at me and asks me how can a BMW dealership not have bottled water and that she is NOT drinking out of the water fountain. I said sorry, catering company is responsible for that. and got back on the phone. She stood there staring me down for 20 seconds or so and walked off mumbling some thing.

2) I am standing next to my bosses computer as he is showing me some of BMW training software. Middle aged gentlemen comes up to us and proceeds to say the following with out even saying hello. "You guys don't have cappuccino flavor?" I reply "we have 10 different choices of Coffee and I don't remember seeing Cappuccino being one of them." He instantly tells me "What kind of a BMW dealership doesn't have Cappuccino? Plus you don't have the Breakfast Blend and only have Decaff" I told him it's the catering people that are responsible for it so if box is empty that means it's all out. He proceeds to tell me how we Should FIRE the catering person" WTF?!

Other stories include customers telling us to get coffee for them, or ask if we have sugar and if we don't be in shock and walk away with sour faces. I just end up telling them I don't store sugar or creamers in my desk.

There are more stories, A LOT MORE. But I'll stop there. Sometimes I feel like telling them to get the ****ing coffee @ Dunkin Donuts that is walking distance from my dealership.

That is exactly the point. We are all human, and we all make mistakes. When a vendor does it, sometimers it leads to a bash thread. Sometime, that thread is truly needed, others it would have been handled witout the thread anyway.

As we saw for the last Vendor X is bad thread, there was more positive comments in the thread then negitive.

I personally had no customers to bash, but I did see an oportunity to have everyone share their customer stories in a humorus way. We have had them as vendors, and been them as customers.
stratocaster....i understand the fun and the tone of this thread....
and when the time comes i will do business with you....

however, you sound like you were offended...

keep in mind that as "humans" we will also remember the negative experiences first vs the positive ones.

also, as "humans" we tend to be more vocal about the negative experiences vs the positive ones..

so is it any surprise people vent on this site when they have negative experiences?

exactly...
win the customer over...
either the customer will do business with you once or 100 times...
it's entirely up to you...

I think this thread is turning personal with the banter between vendors and the customers they are talking about. If anyone feels a compelling reason that this thread should continue, please PM me.
