Cut Off? Please help!
I was going to work this morning, running a little late, so I was driving (or at least wanted to) agressively... I was in 1st gear, coming off a green light, I hit it when the car suddenly cut off at about 6,500 to 7,000 RPMs. I think I had read somewhere on this forum that if the car isn't warmed up properly, the red line decreases to about 7,000 RPMs. I believe that this may be the cause but I'm not sure. Can someone confirm this? I really hope there's nothing wrong... Thanks in advance.

I've experienced the same thing when the car isn't warm. It didn't cut off, it just decelerated quickly. I recounted this story in the 'most embarassing moments' thread a while back.

Nothing wrong....just your rev limiter kicking in.....because your engine/fluid is not warmed up yet...so make sure you have 3 bar on your temp gauge before hitting vtec.....or you'll be hitting a brick wall again

That's right, if your car is not warmed up ... Meaning 3 bars on the temperature gauge then it will be running on a different ECU setting ... Thus preventing you from reaching high RPMs and a reduced RPM setting untill the car is warmed enough, then it is switched back to normal ECU settings. This may also be experienced if you have an ECU malfunction light as well.
