i read all these posts last night and went to the muffler shop first thing this morning...

im not hearing anything like the 350z's sweet song... but removing it definatly adds a pleasant blurbby rasp to the mid range exhaust note.

imo... worth the $35 and 20 mins.

*the 2.25" tube was about 1/8th of an inch too small. so i had them step it up to 2.5" and slip over the existing exhaust pipe (with a little flaring at the ends)

i took some pics... but cant figure out how to add them. (nothing special, they look like all the rest of them)

sorry to revive an old thread, but anyone has a sound clip of removed resonator with testpipes? (any test pipes)

I came across this thread and after reading all 6 pages, the feedbacks were very good and seems like almost everyone recommended this.

I got this done and now the problem I'm running into is that I can't take the rear section out on track days, since I have a replacement pipe welded onto the entire catback. boooo....

it sounds better though.

and it doesn't sound anything like 350z. it sounds better.

yeah im going to do this little mod but im also thinking of putting a test pipe on. i see hvrrz has a tp on, does anyone else have this done and what kind of a difference does the tp make with and without the resonator on? what about a header?

it's welded. like the entire section behind the cat.

before, I think you could take the mufflers out from the Y pipe... but I could be wrong.

Just the res removed gave it a bit of a deeper rumble(mainly around 3-5K), and you can also hear it a bit more in the higher rpm range. When I got the tp on it got a bit more raspier. not fart canny sound, but it screams at WOT(beautiful note). I'm sure you heard it in this vid...

No res vs. No res and tp

I should note that I also had an 8lb flywheel during the time. Doesn't really effect the noise, but never know.

If you want to hear the No res with tp at WOT then check out this vid...

me vs. evo9

You can hear it as we go by the camera car for a quick second, but it's more then enough to let you know how it will sound with those mods. so much sweater in person though. And yes my car is making all the noise, the evoMR is stock.

hope that helps.
