Dashboard replacement
What is up with the quality? The dashboard had been replaced once after less than 1 year old. It had lines of lump going across the driver side right after the curve.
Now less than 10 months of the dashboard replacement, I am seeing almost identical lines with the new dashboard.
I have been parking the car in the garage most of the day. In fact, I rarely drive the car
. It is an ap2 (2007 titled Oct). I still have warranty.I only used protectant 303
Anybody see lines/lumps on theirs?
Tony
I've never had/noticed this problem. Sounds odd and frustrating.
How big are the lumps you're looking at? Do you have a picture?
UV damage that fast, especially with 303, would be very unlikely, and that's usually what ruins dashboards. Lumps make me wonder if water, heat, or a problem with an adhesive somewhere would be the cause. I don't know how our dash is assembled though.

i am starting get them as well on my 07. i have a year left on my warranty and will have it replaced next summer before it expires. i just got mine, so i'm not sure if it was garaged by the previous owner. it is now garaged at home and work now.
my guess is that the styrofoam under the vinyl coating is coming apart causing the lumps.

My warranty ends next Oct and I probably wait til next summer to replace again.
I don't have pics of the lumps. It is hard to get a pic since it only shows up at certain angles with the correct lighting.
Seems like 06+ are the ones that have the issue.
A lot of other cars use hard plastic or rubber for the dashboard. The S2000 falls in between those material I guess

Do a search and you'll find a few good threads about this. It was discussed a lot in 2007 when 2006 owners started getting the bubbles. The conclusion was, the foam used under the vinyl isn't great and has large holes in them. After a while of tanning in the sun, it bubbles. You'll need to specific this issue so when it's repaired, they check the foam.
