Come on, guys! Let's not let ViruX23's abrasiveness and lack of social skills ruin this thread. If you do a search on his threads, you will see that many, if not MOST of the time, he is arrogant and abusive to others, but just shy of getting himself banned. The time will come! He continues to put his foot in his mouth and then finds himself having to field return attacks, which are quite justified.
ViruX23, learn some manners and social skills and maybe you'll get along better here. Continue and I'm sure you'll step over the line sooner or later and a whole bunch of us will ask for your banning. You do not promote harmony or even worthy discussion. What you do is promote discord.

If you want the dealer to do it, bring your own oil.

Honda recommends a straight weight 90w? That is very unusual. If so, and it is not a synoil, then let me give you a tip. At low temps, it will take a minute or more for decent "splash" lubrication to begin in the diff - during that time, the only lubrication for some of the stuff in the pumpkin is from additives used for boundary lubrication (the EP additives that make GL-5/6 different from 4).

So, take it very easy for the first few minutes in cold weather. Just a tip from the Oil Guy.

Instead of the karping like old women on this thread, let's help the man answer his question:

I need to know:
1) What is Honda's recommended fluid, and does it have an industry spec that I can back reference (such as GM 4817M for synoil)?

2) Exactly what fluid has been in your car for the two years?

I doubt you have anything to worry about, but with more info I can give an more authoritative answer.

That's what I do and they are actually happy about it. They don't stock 10w30 because the S is the only car that uses it. So they would have to go out and buy some, so I save them the trouble of doing that. It saves them time, and it saves me time. Plus I get the oil I want, if I want Mobil 1, I get Mobil 1. This time around, I am going to have them replace the diff and transmission. This will be the second time for the diff and first time for the trans. An engine oil change will also be done and I am going to see if I can get them to do the clutch as I have the buzz and the syncros as I do get a 1 -> 2 grind every so often. They might do the trans fluid for free if I supply the oil, as they would have to open it up anyway.

After all of that, I will have full synthetic in the car, and I know exactly what oil is in it. While I could do my own maintenance, which I do on the bikes, I would have to buy a jack and stands. It's easier and almost as cheap as compared to having to buy the equipment. Plus, I transfer all liability over to them.
