Nothing needs to be taken apart to verify the noise.

Do "THEY" know where the noise is coming from? I'm almost certain they will tear it down.

I have not yet read a successful post of repairing a TSB for a car out of warranty
I just went to the dealer with 77k miles, got a call from Honda in a few days, and they agreed to pay for all labor out of warranty. Just gotta be assertive.

which dealership is it?

given that this needs a tear down. they wont authorize anything.

whatever you do, dont get angry and start threatening them by saying you will never buy another Honda product.

They definately wont help you if they dont see a return on their investment. Instead, be nice and tell them how you have owned previous Hondas and tell them how much you would appreciate their assistance on this repair.
The staff at the dealership were very nice to me, we spent time talking about first cars and such while waiting for the return decision.

I told them it was my first honda and I could become a big fan.

In my experience with customer service in various forms, you're better off trying your luck with someone else than going back to the same person. Go to another dealer, call back the 800# and speak to someone else. Keep trying and you should have some success.

A couple of points:

1) It helps if you have a history with a dealership

2) Try to catch a shop that's slow, since they don't make much money on a warrenty (meaning thier only making 100% profit instead of 250% profit) then it's worth it for them to go to bat for you since it will keep a mechanic busy that day.

Or, stop wasting your time, spend a couple hundred bucks, get a new clutch and b e done with it. Not sure what your time is worth though.

I am not really that surprised since it is just a noise and has no detrimental effect on clutch function. They know that and so do we. The situation might be different if you were within warranty, extended warranty, or had a history of Honda purchases. By the way, your thread title is somewhat misleading. They did not refuse to fix it, they just refused to fix it for free.
