Definitive S2000 CR Thread
you can't "Type-R" an S2000. Its already agressively tuned from factory. The Club Racer spec means just that IMO, a further stripped down S2000 catering to weekend racers. Figure a radio delete option, optional air conditioning. Removal of most of the sound deadening, replacing the spare tire with some sealant and a compressor, lighter seats with alacantra/suede. Throw in more aggressive suspension tuning. I don't think we'll see any improvements with regards to the output of the engine? Think "elisification" of the S2000.
THe deal breaker for me would be if they got rid of the softtop. THe car was designed at the outset of be a roadster, and getting rid of the softtop mechanism would not save too much weight.
The aluminum panels rumor has to be rubbish since they'd cost too much and there wouldn't be much of a weight savings over the thin steel panels we already have. Same goes to putting aluminum in the X-bone frame - too much $$$. At most, they might lighten the bumper reinforcement bars on either side and save about 15 lbs on either side.

anymore riddles or clues? If your statements are correct, a picture is forming in my head.

It will come as we get closer.
PM me about your evaluation of your SPOON HT. Full details please
Some of our S Florida members are probably instrumental in some of the modifications on the new CR. I remember the invitation but I couldn't go.
Check it out HERE.
Nice going guys

"Honda of Japan sent a few engineers to the states and they had an extra night.
Several club members ( I believe 10 of us ) - had dinner on south beach and met w/ them.
They asked our opinion on improvements.
Attending were ( correct me if i'm wrong guys )
S2000 lead engineer
S2000/NSX design test driver
S2k Interior Designer
S2k Exterior Designer
Twas a good 2 hours and they got an earful. ( They scribbled furiously)
They took pics of our mods and asked us why we thought they were necessary/important.
That night was awesome! We gave them a TON of feedback!

IMHO, the power produced by the CR edition is somewhat irrelevant to most S owners anyway. For some, it will be an excuse to buy a new car and enjoy the aspects of driving a limited (perhaps the last) edition of the S. For many others, an additional 20-30 whp combined with a few modifications to the suspension set up and/or other aspects of the car Honda decided to implement will please some and not others.
However, assuming the CR edition uses the same 2.2 VTEC engine to power the car, then for the large number of S owners that have already modified their cars to a very high level of performance/improved handling, the hype pertaining to the CR edition is really no biggee. It is very unlikely that the CR will contain any new improvements that are not already manufactured by quality performance and engineering companies.
If some of the prior comments prove accurate, then the CR is merely a rebadged white S2K with a mere 10% increase on whp. Woopee! Moreover, the increase is likely to be at top end with little, if any, additional low end torque. Yes, the cost to enhance the power, handling, and appearance of S cars is not inexpensive. But it certainly pales in comparison to the assumed $36K price tag for the CR. One can buy a quality used S and turn it into a very high performing vehicle for thousands less.
Nevertheless, the debates and speculations surrounding the CR and its successor are likely to continue for many years to come. Hence, just one more good reason to secure that lifetime membership!

Imola orange or white, with similarities to the asm car. *crosses fingers*
Edit: why is everyone assuming it will have a hp increase
