medicalstudent - I understand your point, but for example, at VIR (my "local" track, I can't even put an s2000 on it without an SCCA-legal bar - 1.5" or whatever above the height of my helmet. And there ought to be real restraints, which require apprpriate seats, etc, etc.

AX is different - a lot of places require didley except you wear a helmet.

I still need to see it and the price....

There is only 200 CR that is stripped, (the version that everyone wants)there are 50 states. The other 1800 Cr is just a normal AP2 with goodies and no wt reduction.

What makes any of us think we'll get one? (the 200Cr version)

As I posted previously, if it really is meant to be for the track, it needs a real bar or cage, and 5-6pt harnesses with appropriate seats, extinguisher, etc. Otherwise it is not a track-ready car, just another street car needing mods. The hardtop is not going to be sufficiently strong to help you in a rollover, even though it might pass some inspections. So even with the hardtop you need a real bar in this car.

If it were really a track-oriented and ready car, I would buy it and drive it on the track. If it'll take a chunk of $$ to get it to VIR and make it safe, need to rip up the interior and put in a bar, etc, then not worth the $.

We'll see.
Agreed!

Most of the aftermarket roll bar for this car looks awful compared to what is available for the Miata. A permanent hardtop with up side down crash worthiness would better compliment the intent of the Club Racer.

Well If i remember right the Soft top frame is light as Hell...I mean its 12lbs or something...with the Cloth and motor it might be 30lb max?
If thats it than i think there is no point of striping the car from the Soft top frame....

I say ..make it All aluminium and make it a 50k car.
Than its ok.

Well, if they are just removing parts (radio, AC, etc) in order to lighten up the car I probably don't want one. If there are new materials used to lessen the weight it may be worth it.

Any idea on how they will stiffen up the chassis?

Cool stuff, thanks BC

I probably won't upgrade (maybe I'll see if I can get some CR goodies somehow) but if I were shopping now I'd be trying to get a stripped model.

Ugh, well nevermind then. So the 1,800 will not have the stronger chassis, hardtop, weight reduction, seats, etc?

Why bother with those then?

Hmm unless I misread that, I don't really care about the CR now.
