[QUOTE=Ribs,Apr 11 2007, 12:26 PM] What an idiot. "The spoiler actually produces downforce at speed"! Imagine that

Most "spoilers" on factory production vehicles actually do not produce downforce, they merely reduce lift. So his point is not meaningless.
Correct. Spoilers are for reduction of lift. They are there to "spoil" the airflow that generates lift

Wings were created to actually increase downforce.

They should have never messed up the S2000 image with the Super funny CR.
also i Saw a Golf Gen3 Today in super Standard 1.4 motor(uncolored Bumpers) with the same OEM color as the S2000. I say OEM VW color ...
Now that Golf looked Funny.
How many S2000 are in Mazedonia?

Simply, CR made me appriciate

Ugly EVO wings,
Riced up veilside bodykit
Gay ass hyunday rims
That custom pink LV seat someone did for school project before
Trash can sized exhaust tips.
And those pathetic lime green color on riced up eclipses.

CR is such an embarrasement. Very sad.

I would love to hear an opinion from someone who has actually driven the CR. I don't care what it looks like, if it can raaace Maybe the design is purpose-driven...When is someone going to get their hot little hands on this baby and find out? I'll go to my room now

how are any of those modification significant.... they took out the radio and AC... they added a whale wing.... an ugly front lip.... lost 95 lbs?!?!??! The only real tweak is they use an ap1 steering gear box and slight tweaks to the suspension. Most everybody on here already modified their suspension to what is probly better than what the CR has.....
Wouldn't it be pretty hard to out tune a suspention set by professionals from the factory to maximize performance? It is a CR ya know.

Well what they think we want and what we actually want should be the same no? If not then they aren't paying attention:

1. Less weight
2. More power

How hard can it be?

No it is pretty easy. Suspension mounting locations have not been changed so their tuning was done to meet a lot of criteria. For those of us that track our cars often, the tradeoff in comfort for handling is perfectly fine, for a production honda, that's not the case so they can NOT go to the same level as an aftermarket setup can.

The only factor in designing this car was not making it a true track car, in fact I see no evidence that they designed this as a track car at all, just as a S2000 that starts off at a higher level than base.

We will see. I feel the car would have the ultimate handling while maintaining streetablility and an alignment that can surrive our horrible roads without tearing apart the car and eating tires.

It will be the ultimate car to get to drive to the track and have fun . I can't wait but we will see what other say after driving it and tracking it.

If more people like me support the CR we may get cars like the radical NSX-R. Or more hardcore cars. I can't wait for mine on order.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, April 4, 2007 - The club racer inspired 2008 Honda S2000 CR Prototype making its world debut at the New York International Auto Show introduces a higher level of track worthy performance and style to the s2000 roadster, American Honda Motor Co. Announced Today.

The s2000 CR will be available as an entirely new s2000 trim level when it goes on sale in the fall of 2007. The lighter stiffer and more aggressive overall design is engineered to maximize the s2000's potential on a racetrack with the goal of substantially improving track times, chassis balance and feel. The factory tuned roadster provides highly aggressive suspension settings , increased body and chassis rigidity, overall weight reduction and an aerodynamic body kit dialed in for reduced lift. An aluminum Hard Top replaces the convertible soft top as standard equipment.

"The s2000 CR is the closest thing you can get to a honda built racecar with license plate holders and a horn" said John Mendel, Executive VP of AHM. "Its features and equipment are designed to appeal to weekend club racing enthusiasts.

The full body aero package reduces lift through large and highly tuned front and rear spoilers. Exclusive chassis features include a QUICKER STEERING RATIO, BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE070 TIRES, WIDER REAR TIRE SIZE, FIRMER SPRINGS AND DAMPERS, LARGER STABILIZER BARS, AND A NEW WHEEL DESIGN IN A DARK GRAY COLOR.

Substantial structural bracing has been added to the storage area previously occupied by the soft top, resulting in additional rigidity. The aluminum hard top replaces the soft top of the conventional s2000, resulting in an overall weight savings of approx. 90 lbs when removed.

The exclusive interior is highlighted by unique cloth seating surfaces with yellow stitching, a unique spherical aluminum shifter, and carbon fiber style trim panels. A/C and STEREO ARE OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT, Standard features for the s2000 include 17 inch aluminum wheels, ABS, and VSA. While VSA serves to effectively enhance driver control during acceleration , braking , and cornering, it can be disabled with the touch of a button.
