Definitive S2000 CR Thread

Raj, I'm assuming you're talking about the soft top, right? If so, it will be very different. The CR won't have a soft top at all. It will only have the hard top which is identical to any other S2000 hard top.
Go thru the last several pages of postings.

I have read them all. More importantly, I comprehended them. Give reading them another try. You might see what you missed the first time around.

That will make the CR a fo shizzle no go for me. The lack of a retractable top coupled with the crime rate makes that a no go for a daily driver in So Cal.
FF2 - thanks for the support, but FYI the quote you put there is still not what I said -
Here it is - "At VIR it is easy to hit close to 140 - even on the short south course - in a high powered car, and I have done it routinely. However, that is not why I picked that number. I used 140 just as a number to represent fast, and one that is within the S2000's range."
I have hit 140 on the short straight coming off oak tree in an SPF cobra (built by Ohlthoffs in Mooresville) with a stroked engine producing 500hp/tq, give or take, and the faster drivers will get close to 145-150.
140 is well within the limits of an S2000 (not necessarily at VIR - I didn't say that) based on various posts on this board, road tests, etc, I believe. The top speed is close to 150 or so, no?
It's a moot point. Even at slower speeds on a track, and especially if you are racing and driving agressively, you ought to have proper safety equipment. And around here, at least some of it is required. Can you call a car a "racer" if it does not have a cage? Semantics, but words are powerful and people do stupid things...
Back-Cracker may be a good driver - I don't know his track and I don't really care (his personal attack was unprofessional and somewhat defensive, however). The s2000 is a great car, never said any different. The CR vesion is also going to be a great car. But they are both street cars that handle well on the track. But out of the box, neither warrants the title "racer," and in my opinion (if BC will allow me that!) both need to have safety equipment added before they are driven on the track. And just because the CR may be better on the track that the std S, doesn't mean you ought to go driving it out there without proper care and safety in mind.
Be safe. And if you are not, well, Wallace and Darwin were smart guys.
FF2 - perhaps I'll see you there sometime. Take care.

They sell 5000-6000 S2000 a year.
4100 is probably fairly high, since the usual big sales peak in May didn't even happen this year.
