Make mental note of all the dealers asking for mark up on the CR or selling it on EBAY for above MSRP.

Make note so you can stay away from dealers like these in the future. The industry has plenty of decent dealerships who will exercise restraint on not making customer upset and has more concern on building long term relations.

I don't mind the dealer making a fair profit so they will take care of me in the future. I am like you in that I will not do business with dealers that jack the price over MSRP. I refuse to do business with them. I have a great relationship with my Honda dealer and they treat me very well. I also enjoy Porsche stuff and had a really bad experience with a 997 GT3 RS that I had ordered. Won't be doing business with those scum bags and bottom feeders again. It recently came in and they auctioned it off on Ebay. That really hurt, however, I refused to pay $ 60k over msrp considering we had a signed purchase agreement at msrp.

Wow, S2k over a GT3 RS? What about a regular GT3? Are those marked up like the RS?

The regular GT3's are being marked up also from $10K - $20k. I just don't like to do business with people like that. I found a straight up dealer that accepted my deposit for an 09 GT3 and entered into a legally binding contract at MSRP with the options I want. I didn't mention that the previous scumbag dealer also wanted to spec the color and options on MY car to the tune of $20K in addition to the $60K jack up. All this after we had a signed purchase agreement and a $ 5K deposit. After I got my deposit back, I ups'd him a tube of KY jelly and a note indicating the correct methodology to insert the GT3 RS where it belonged. All of the 08 GT3's are jacked up or sold. They cut back on production of the 08's as they are redoing the 09 which will have 465 hp. I think it will be worth waiting for. I love my 993 cab for now and this CR will be a real treat until the GT3 comes in. The more I drive the CR, the more I fall in love. On a long track I think my 993 will walk all over the CR, however, on a short track or Autocross the CR will hand you your lunch. They both have their strong points.

I really like my SI as well and think it is an absolute ball to drive. I take a lot of crap over the SI because it's not a BMW or Lexus. But, I still love it and it's half the price. That leaves money for more toys. I also think Honda represents outstanding engineering, value, and performance. I considered a new Corvette Z06 or a Porsche Cayman and still chose the CR. Half the price of either and every bit as nice.

I recently found out that you can change engines and race in NASA events. I am seriously thinking about putting an F22 engine in my 914 track car. It would cost $20K to get a Type IV 914 engine to that level of HP and it wouldn't be reliable. Does anyone know of a source to purchase a complete F22 engine, controls and wiring loom? I apologize if this is inappropriate to ask this question in this thread.

Thanks,
Mike

$36935 - MSRP
$33496.91 - Invoice
$726.00 - Holdback
$32770.91 - Net

Of couse you have to factor in dealer internal costs such as PDI, but these are the raw numbers. Hopefully it helps someone out if they are close to working some numbers, good luck!
This is helpful information. Thank you.

Please tell us the source of these numbers.

Question for those working at dealerships:

Radio and AC delete are standard with the CR but both of them can be added back in.
Are dealerships actually getting the stripped models to sell or are they getting CR's with AC and radio?
The CR is so limited in production and i'm wondering if the truly lightweight model is even more scarce than that.

The only dealership in the U.S. that has ordered (or allocated) a CR w/o AC at this time:

Florida: Kuhn Honda - Tampa - Black/Yellow - (813)872.4841

No other dealership in the U.S. has one on order.

No dealership in the U.S. has one on the ground.
