plop on a supercharger and the power to weight distro will be better than the stipped CR.
Then the car would be put in a whole new class when it comes time to line up on the grid...

I had heard that Honda lost money on the 97, 98, 00, and 01 Integra Type R's imported to the U.S. I'm not sure if "lost" means they lost money or just had smaller profit margins in comparison to the standard Integra's. At any rate, Honda brought the Type R to build brand loyalty and recognition (hype), not to increase their stockholders equity. That's what their Civic and Accord do... Bread and Butter models.
I don't have the figures... not sure they're public but I've always believed Honda doesn't make money on the S2000. Not sure they ever want to. What do they call it.... angels?

This car is Honda's way of saying to Porche, BMW etc... F you, we can do this and better. Consider what you get, power, stance, looks etc. (okay and don't get... the luxury). This car, for 33K is a bargain.

Anyone know whether it's a loss line item?

I had always heard this as well. I remember reading it in one the car mags at one time or another. It is their "image" car. Honda large enough to justify selling a low production "image" simply as a marketing tool.
