lol ....I said the S2000 ..not the S800 with a motorcycle engine in it

ALL s2k s are grt cars ...ive said that before , mines just the way the car was meant to be imo ..the S was never made to have an 8k reline was it ?? ...so in closing i'd like to say again ...I lv the S2000 ...no matter what yr !!!!

NSX was a $$$ loser for Honda the 1st time around, the S2k never was profitable either. The new NSX was killed due to the market conditions and there are rumers that once things begin to turn around it will supposedly be relaunched. Also have to keep in mind that the Government gas mileage regulations will keep it from being the supercar it deserves to be and will probably be a V6 with IMA for added power.. This will put alot of people under the whiole, "its not a sports car" thing. I wish Honda would release it as the V10 beast or even V8 it was supposed to be years ago with the new bodystyle

they could have sold more by putting a 7K redline H22 or H24 in it, with an automatic transmission and a soft suspension to attract more buyers or even made it cheap to build by making it front wheel drive but that would take away from the whole purpose of the original design. Honda wanted to introduce a fun, sporty roadster that produced high HP per liter #s and something that was also affordable. Before the release of the 458 our car held the Guiness book record for HP/liter- 10 years. from the late 40s when Honda was started till the early 90s when the NSX was introduced Honda was always known as a conservative auto maker with high MPG. Even the NSX was introduced to bring the concept of an efficient and fun car and not needing a V12 to be ab exotic, it was targeted at Ferrari and made Ferrari build a better car.

One of the main reasons I bought an S2000 in 2003 was for the 9,000 rpm. I can't even count how many times I told people about 9k, or was asked about it. Then I sold it in 2010 to make room in the garage. Then I had S2000 withdrawals and bought an AP2 in 2011. Now I miss the 9,000 rpm redline. 8k just isn't the same. But the AP2 has a lot of good updates over AP1.

I'm confused.

The design was not ten years old. The want for S2000's is still everywhere. It's a safe, reliable, fast, and fun roadster that was built for purpose. Now there are plenty of people out there that could care less about purpose, and maybe that's why the sales were low in the last production years because they started coming out with mass made hybrids that were more environmentally friendly. Really, I think if the S2000 was a more popular car that everyone knows about, and respected the amazing design, sales would have never gone down.

You also said that Honda has no interest in building anything sporting, that is 30% true. Honda has always been for good efficiency, and they just happened to be interested in to racing. That's why they made the NSX and S2000. The reason why Honda seems as if they are not interested is because they would get very low sales on a stock ready track car because of the trend of people wanting to be more environmentally friendly, as well as easier on the wallet. It was not built for the common driver. Once again, it was built purely for purpose.

Also, the last statement you made about the S2000 not being commercially successful car, that is completely true and that goes straight back to the fact that people wanted to be more efficient with their cars and more environmentally friendly.

It's not Honda's fault that the S2000 went down, it's our communities that brought it down. This car was built purely for purpose and providing the driver with one great driving pleasure.
