I LOVE reviving old threads and I can't help it in this case: this reminds me of last summer, I was at a LAN party at a friends house and I parked my RSX-S in his lot with the sunroof open, under clear skies! No trees within 15 feet. When I came out to the car after 6 hours of fragging, some lovely gigantic avian had dropped a huge white chunky bomb bulls-eye smack dab through my sunroof and all over my center console. I could not believe it, it was unreal. It looked as though 5 or 6 birds has been doing target practice or something, and they were all sharpshooters. I kid you not, it was an unusually large amount of bird shit! Coating my center console! I still can't believe it!
A mole of aluminum weighs 26.981 grams.
A mole of titanium weighs 47.867 grams.
A mole of steel (iron) weighs 55.845 grams.
A given volume of titanium will be 77% heavier than the same volume of aluminum and 85% of the weight as the same volume of steel.
Titanium backpacking cookware is generally lighter than steel and about the same weight as aluminum. However, titanium is stronger than aluminum, so the titanium pots are stronger than the comparably light aluminum.

Between the two, I noticed the following..
1. Ti is darker in color, gunmetal vs silver if you will
2. Ti 6-speed pattern engraving appears much wider/deeper than aluminum knob pattern(classy)
3. Ti is more resistent to light scratchezs
4. For a good idea of the weight difference, hold a C battery in one hand and a AA in another where the C represents the Ti and the AA the Al..
5. Can't comment on warming/cooling?
6. 02 switch to leather wrap is nice, I bought both Al and Ti and now use the leather-mostly..
7. My countersunk gunmetal DCSports offers the quickest shifts though it requires slightly more attention to clutch manipulation.

Wow, almost a year exactly since I posted this.
Well, I love my Ti OEM shift knob. Still looks brand new (I've had it for over a year now). Compared to my 02 stock aluminum w/ leather, which after a year had the finish come off of it. So i'm so glad I got the Ti and got rid of the crap stock one.
