Differences between intakes
I was curious to know what the mechanical/spec/function differences are between different types of intakes. I pretty much know what a CAI does but what exactly is a short ram intake (Like the K & N typhoon for instance)? What other kinds of intakes are there if any? My locale presents the dreaded hydrolocking problem, so I'm not crazy about a CAI. Do you get the same problem with short rams and others? Thanks everyone.
A short Ram air intake sucks in wamer/hotter air from the engine bay...but it has to travel less to get into the intake manifold "raming" the air in. As to a Cold Air...its colder air, but the piping is longer so the air takes longer to get into the minifold..with less of a raming effect.
