It's not the straight line performance, it's the driving experience of the s2000 that is rewarding. If you're a straight line, stoplight to stoplight kind of guy then you should look elsewhere.

With that said, with an exhaust and hfc my car is more than fast enough for daily driving.

^^If these camaros you raced, put as much money into the mods as you did, they would have no contest with you. Of course you won vs a mostly stock car...
Really? Thanks Sherlock for stating the obvious! I know the cars I raced were mostly stock cars, but they also had 4 more cyls and a lot more displacement. I was responding to the other guy that said he never raced a fast fwd honda. Clearly, he just didn't run into one is all.

Also, my point was simply that they can be made "fast." For the cost of my s2k, I could build a fwd honda that would spank my s2k (my old integra spanked plenty of s2ks), but clearly just power is not the point of owning an s2k, or many more expensive cars.

[QUOTE=BlackBearTX,Oct 28 2010, 05:05 AM]BAWWW MY VTECS NOT KICKIN IN.
IMA GO BUY A HONDA CIVIC WITH I-VTEC.

Solution: Go buy another RSX, if all you care about is vtec gtfo. If you can't appreciate a car for what it is, you deserve to drive a civic. You can slap 100 performance mods on them, perfect for your taste

This is one of the most ridiculous comparisons of cars I've seen... Nobody shopping for a 35k sports car is going to cross-shop with any of the cars you listed. People don't buy cars with no budget

Regardless, the S was never really very fast compared to the competition in its price class.
What are you in high school or college? Come on. I gave a very valid observation. If you can't handle it then refrain from posting.

Thanks!

[QUOTE=CR EH,Oct 30 2010, 07:58 AM] I never understand why people say things like "oh well this ~$100,000 car will crush an S2000!".

We are talking stock VS stock here. Who cares if you can make a car fast. Anyone can do that. Been there done that.

Two many of you high school and college kids/punks still think this car is fast. Sorry to burst your bubbles but its not.

Hell I would even say my Z4M, M3, and NSX are slow, why? Because they are, period, end of story. All of mine are in the under $100,000 class as well.
Don't hate because your car is slow. I don't.

I enjoy my cars or I wouldn't have bought them.
You make some of the most ridiculous comparisons I've ever read, so just stop.

Uhh, yeah, ok kid...

Move along troll!!!!

I am not going to sit here and argue facts and observations. I don't have the time.

This site has truely gone down hill over the years. This is total proof of that. Simple YET TRUE observations and your egos can't handle it. Lol What a joke.

Can anyone provide a car for 30k+- 5k that is faster than an S2000?!
Let's not talk about weight distribution, feel, efficiency.. and all stuff that we love about our S....
Let's focus on the straight line speed issue only to please some smart people in here!!!
And please don't say 350Z ... it's pretty close... give me something that is way faster.. As would the OP expect..
I would still buy the S even if you can find one, but I want to enjoy this argument...
The thing is... many expect the S to be faster !!!! does any expect the 350Z to be faster than it should, or a 335i !?!?!? all of them are equipped with Turbos or bigger engines... in fact people should expect more from these cars...not the "S" ....

Why is that... because the S has a lot to talk about ... anyone who has no S... hears a lot about S owners talking about how much they enjoy it and hence when people try it they imagine a Ferrari... well that's a complement... but it's not the speed that we talk about only.. it has decent power compared to its category.. in addition to a lotttttttttttttttttttt more ...
Supra, RX7, 300ZXTT, STi, Evo etc etc. Whether or not they have turbos and larger engines is a moot point. A car is a car...run what cha brung.

If you're going to compare cars under 100k, you have to lop 996TTs and the GTR in the mix...the s2k doesn't hold a candle to these. Let's keep this realistic, for under $30k, the s2000 is a great car and is one of the few "affordable" yet REAL sports cars in that price bracket. Above that price, you can get a lot better. I choose to save my money and mod the s2000. This is my affordable dream car...and what a dream it has been.

I said the S2000 is still a great car but I forgot most of you didn't see that.
Do you know how ridiculous you sound?? I dont think anyone here is calling the S2k "fast" by any comparison to cars IN ITS PRICE BRACKET. Where the hell do you get 100K from?? Honda has certainly fallen behind in the sports car segment, but its the connection with the car that we enjoy when we drive it.

The S2k was very competitive in its early years, but even with the revised AP2, it didnt boost performance significantly, so it certainly will seem slow when all the other makes came out with increased HP on their cars.
