Do all AP1s have Kangarooing (or Hopping) ?

I have driven many manual cars and I KNOW the feeling when my foot causes the "kangarooing" effect. This happened to me the other day in traffic and I can tell you that it is not caused by driver error. There is really an issue with this and until all of you who think it is caused by driver error experience it, you will never know what the rest of us are talking about. Hate to admit it but this is "car error"
I have owned close to a dozen cars with manual transmissions over the years and this is the only car I've ever driven with that problem. I too initially thought it was the car's fault and that I didn't contribute to the problem. But I'm an Engineer, and I believe in using the process of elimination to absolutely, positively eliminate all remote possibilities (no matter how remote they may be) before reaching a conclusion. You obviously have a different method of reaching a conclusion.
If you really think that I'm wrong without even trying what I have suggested OVER AND OVER AGAIN, well......
My car has never done this once, but my dad had this problem when he got his S2000. Its a driver problem, not that car. The only thing they could have done differently would have been a stiffer gas pedal. Hopping is causes by the driver reacting to acceleration. Its works the same way as bump firing a semi-automatic weapon.
Well i'll already say, mine isn't drivers error. I've daily driven mine for over 2 years and know how my car acts and feels on a daily basis. Mine hasn't done it for a long while now, so i'm not concerned about it.
Like it was said above, we might all be talking about 2 different things. Bucking is pretty violent jerking causes by a light pedal foot. As the car accelerates, the drivers inertia forces him to give more gas, he compensates by letting off the gas, his body shifts forward back into the gas pedal and starts the cycle over again. When this happens badly, the car almost spins its tires when its bucking and your move around pretty good. If you let someone who hasn't driven much stick drive your car, they'd probably do this.
never had it happen when i had the 4.10s (had the oem differential gearing for the first month or two) but when i went to 4.77s, the first day it bucked/kangarooed. the first few weeks with the new gearing i had a problem with it.
funny how it only happened in my local residential neighborhood (25mph zone), at stopsigns pulling out slow. basically it was caused by creeping off a stopsign (residential area has kids) rather than my usual roaring off a stoplight.
-jordan- said it best with comparing it to bump firing. i think it happens when you hit that sweet spot with clutch engagement, throttle position, and rpm in first gear. don't pussy-foot on the gas and you'll be good.

After cleaning my MAP sensor and the port it attaches to on the throttle body, my car had a lot more throttle response and was less likely to 'kangaroo'. I agree that heat soak and throttle input (driver error) can cause it too. If you fool around with the gas during a 1st gear start, you can figure out exactly what causes the kangaroo effect. Try it.
