Do you A/C when top is DOWN?
Yea- I use AC if I'm in direct sunlight. I prefer to drive with the top down after about 5pm when the sun is setting. The direct sunlight on your face can make you feel like your sitting in a car with all the windows up.
I like the convertible top, but for me personally, I tend to only use it in the evening on hot nights when the sun is gone. If I take it down during the daytime and I'm going somewhere, I arrive looking rather hot and flustered.

I tried that and it does not work very well, if it is that hot I put the top up and be cool with no hot bursts of air. IMO convertible is good for Spring and Fall. Forget those 105 degree days with a heat index of 120
. I rather be cool and not have the top down at all. Except maybe at night.

Know what I think when I see a convertible top *up* on a hot day??? That driver is running their A/C. When I drive on a hot day the top is down!...period. If it *is* hot, yeah, I'll run the A/C...and appreciate it. Knocks down the humidity in the cockpit & keeps the temp ~ 10 degrees cooler. If I want to "pull away" quickly on someone, I just punch the a/c button off at the dash for a lil' sprint from the light.
absolutely. top down, windows up, a/c blowing makes a huge difference.
anything to keep from putting the top up, i say!!
by the way, i know the a/c robs power and efficiency but in my experience the difference is miniscule. in fact, last year i took a trip to santa barbara when it was way into the 90's. (farenheit for you non US folks). despite getting trapped in the usual traffic going through LA and a couple long blasts up over the speed limit (
) i got nearly 30 mpg on that trip.
think about that. the aerodynamics must be for crap with the top down, i had the a/c on, had to screw around in stop and go traffic, managed some enthusiastic driving and still got that kind of mileage. these cars are amazing.

Yep, I run my AC if it is muggy outside, and I am in stop and go traffic.... that's why I got a convertible, for the rush of air and the great view. I saw about 25 convertibles today, only about 4 of them had their tops down.......
