As one who lives with line speed of 28.8 on a Good Day and download speeds of 3 or less, I can certainly agree with scraping large repetitive files.

Most people will voluntarily agree to limit their "stuff" if asked -- which I think the PC Police . should do... there's nothing wrong with managing the site for the needs of the majority.

Greg, you've now experienced the frustration of crappy line speed many of us live with all the time as we pray for DSL to find its way to our street. Then you can understand why I did this when I read that 9000 RPM would be on-line. I haven't read it yet, as I need to get a check off this week. But I'm assuming it has a lot of photos and stuff which takes moocho time to download. Are there any plans for it to be a hardcopy publication?

Yeah, WebGod!!!

Keep in mind that Community Organizers are NOT moderators in the traditional sense. While we have very limited options in our respected forums, we are in no way a part of the admin/moderator organization.

I support, very strongly, to keep the signatures in place with photos, but limited in the same way an avatar pic is limited by 100 pixels. . .

I have seen some sigs that have full pics or some that have a full series of pics and like Greg stated, a MOD list from here to the next page. Some are so long, I actually have to scroll down to see if there's another post on my screen. . .and my screen is 19"!!!

I happen to like my sig very much. I try to limit it to only once in my posts. The only links I have are within the board itself and that should be all that is expected.

How do you only include your sig only once in a thread??? Is there an option for this that I missed.
MarkS2K:

When you post to any thread (or create a thread), you have a series of options on the bottom before you click on submit reply. The last is the check box with "Show Signature." Simply check off the box and no sig will display for that particular post.

Airgate, thanks for the offer to send a copy of 9000 RPM to dlq. We had sent out an email to everyone asking how they prefer the newsletter and the opinion was to have it online...as printing would be a righteous expense and one that we could spend the money better elsewhere...BUT...we also said that if you need one printed and mailed, that we can do that, as well. We had already planned on mailing out some of them since not everyone has an email address.

So, there is always a solution...when you join, we'll accomodate you however you want it...airgate, you will have an email later today. I have a plane to catch!

Thanks!

Airgate, thanks. You have a PM.

Greg, thanks. You have Check in the mail.

PS - Airgate, I LOVE the Fuji digital camera. Took some get 'self timer' family shots yesterday around the Christmas tree. The close-up stuff (30" or less) is FANTASTIC. Thanks for the recommendation.

Amen!!!

It became even more frustrating from my parents' house, which doesn't have broadband access. What's the point of including a pic of your S2K if it looks just like everybody else's? I have plenty of pics of my car, but don't see how including one in my auto-sig would add any value. I'd much prefer a link where viewers can find out more about your car IF they want to, rather than having every detail forced down your throat every time you view a post.

There is an option to disable all avatars and signatures. I selected that option and never been happier.
