so the other weekend me and my stock 2000 s2000 and my freind's 2003 stock lancer evolution and my buddys hoked up 350z decide to race... ok well i should start by telling you about the 350's mods its a touring model with injen cold air intake bored out throttle body new intake manfold (forget the company) but i was big enough he had to remove the stock strut bar and a borla exhhaust. so we all line up at a three lane road and are at a red light wait for it to go green and we all went for it. Off the launch we all looked equal is what my freind who trailed us said and me and the 350 pulled at the top of first on the lancer. then my moment of glory was over and began to fall behind slowly but surely. I didnt think i would beat either of them but i was there for the fun of it. the evolution pulled on the 350 all the way through which suprised me and won on the 1/4 mile but after 115 the 350 pulled out on him until 135 then we stopped. By the way to the lancers credit he launched the car at 1500 rpms, he doesnt want to abuse the car so he says im still wiatin for him to drop it from six thousand, haha. I geuss what happened all makes sense except for one thing, wehn me and the lancer raced prior to alll this from a 30 mph roll we were dead even???

i've been driving with my freind who has the evo, we have alot of great two laners with lots of turns and i thought for a while my S out handelded him but its starting to seem like he has the upper hand. Is his AWD helping him that much? those of you who have been in evos and S2000s what do you think? We are going to redo this race when i get som mods
my opinion is with a cupple of bolt ons i will run with them and for the fun of it we are going to throw my freind's stock FD3s

..... to nail the brakes from 35 would have caused the rear to get shakey I wouldnt of lost it but i wouldn't have stoped before the patch of ice in time either.
Unless you had snow tires that is if they perfrom as well as other memebers noted above.
Anyway - you did OK & you are not dead. That's a good thing. Take care & ignore the whiners that don't think kids should have cars.

To be honest, white_S2000@16 is a better man than me. If I'd been driving an S2000/Mustang GT - anything with any power - at 16, I'd have wrapped it around a pole and not needed any ice to help. And I didn't drink! I couldn't handle my first car which was a 82 hp Hyundai - and was barely much better in my next car a Probe GT. I didn't wreck 'em, but I came close, escaping accidents only by luck.
Truth is in this particular case, where the driver wasn't going rediculously fast the only reason older more experienced drivers 'may' not have had an issue is just that - experience. I though the same as Russ when I saw the picture - woods, muddy berms, white residue on the ground = take it real slow. But thats just from years of winter driving. THIS is not an example of teens run amok. White_S2000@16 could have been a Skip Barber 3 day school grad and still had a similar incident based only on not being aware that the conditions might be poor. It's unfortunate about the car, but judging from his posts and the way he's stood up to us older folks, he's learned alot from this - it's a shame it wasn't just say a fender or busted wheel like recently happended to an friend of mine (who happens to be about twice white_S2000@16's age
).
