I am so glad that the car kept you safe and you were able to walk away. I cannot imagine how dangerous ice must be in the S, but thank god you are OK!! I hope all ends well and you can replace your S. Take care!!

Bravnik, I feel as you do (personally), but I also think that it's any parent's right to handle this as he/she sees fit. I do not think we should equate parental "concern" with the kinds of activities that parents foster / support.

All I know is that there are 12-year olds driving Karts that know how to handle RWD better than 99% of the drivers on the road today.

I agree, parents can raise their kids anyway they feel and buy them anything they wish.

Common Sense goes a long way in life. Even further than money. My best advice to anyone is to use it.

Enough preaching from me. I will hold another soap box soon. If you wish to join my congregation, PM for donation information. I take Pay Pall

I'll add my 2 cents for whites2000 to think about if/when he gets another S.
Even on a clear, dry, warm summer day, with brand new tires, and a lot of experience, you may find yourself half way around a curve looking straight into the grille of some jerk who is not able to take the curve without crossing the line.

I dont think what anyone here has said is at all worng. All of our opinions come from our life expieriences and because everyones is different, we all have some different opinions. I have read and considered all of your posts I've taken alot from all of them. It was up to me to do waht I did, and I got what was coming to me. I hope no one will have hard feelings about this in the future.

Thanks,
Matt

Once again, generalizing about teenagers is a BAD idea. I have had a lot of experience driving race cars with the power to weight ratio of motorcycles. I am only 19 years old, but have driven shifter karts, GT class porsches, stock class autocross vehicles and soon to be driving a Formula 2000 car in the Zetec Championship series(given funding problems). I can honestly say that I agree that to an unexperienced driver the S2000 has a snap overstreer issue that can cause dangerous situations, but please dont pin point all of us. I can promise you that 99.9% of drivers dont drive as mature as i do on the streets and 99.9% of drivers wont be able to do what I can do in a car, given my experience. That said, I think that you guys hold a valid point about drivers with little driving experience, but not all teenagers lack the driving skills needed to control these cars.

I agree with every word you wrote. Age, experience, wisdom and sobriety all contribute to good driving skills. I lack the experience to give me good skills but I have the wisdom (and the money) to be able to choose a '92 Accord over an '01 S2000 for snowy day commuting.
