Default Driver's side window goes up in pain

when about 1/4 of the travel distance left when it goes up it starts to feel resistance, makes little noise and goes 1mm every 2 secs. It's with door opened.
I suspect window regulator is dying. it's around $80 used on ebay but first wondering if anybody experienced the same? is it smth common on S?

//thanks
