The end of an era for me :)

I'm not super tall by any means, but I think 6 feet tall is right at the limit, any one taller than me must be pretty uncomfortable in the car I would think.
I'm surprised, based on how passionate about the car you seem to be, that you were able to let it go.
I don't think I will ever be able to let mine go. I NEVER get bored with it. The wifey wants me to go to a 911, M3, GT-R in the future...but I told her I would do so under one condition: the S2000 remains in the stable. Its a classic that will bring more than one generation pure joy, and you just have to hang on to that.

Most car loans start out upside-down and get less so over time, until eventually you owe nothing but the car still has some value. It's interesting that you expected to lose more to depreciation than you were paying off each month.
I had a long loan and the value of the car and the amount left on the loan stayed pretty equal the entire time actually. I just felt like I was teetering on the edge of going upside down. As I said, I put a lot of miles on the car each year and I imagine I was wearing the car down faster than the typical owner. I doubt I was actually going to go upside down. I'm just trying to justify my sale to myself, haha.
Plus, I like to tinker with cars, and the s2000 was just too good as it was to mess with. I bought a coilover suspension and then sold it before installing because I decided the factory suspension was too good to screw with. I also knew that I wasn't going to get much return (as far as gains go) from headers and exhaust and a tune, and didn't feel like going SC or turbo (even though I considered it many times). I ended up getting another Stealth twin turbo (I am deep into the 3000gt/Stealth community, I have 3 right now) to play around with before I sold the S. Now I have something I can tweak endlessly and not worry about messing up

I'm in the military and I just got an assignment in Alaska and I STILL won't sell my baby. I'm just gonna park it in my mom's garage for 18 months and continue to pay for it. It may sound dumb...but I can't imagine life without it.
Well, at least you sold the car to a friend so you can still drive it.
I must say that I also agree with all of the posts saying that you'll be back... I sold my s2k two years ago and now I'm debating selling my 335 to pick up another AP1. There really isn't any other car within any type of reasonable price range that is even half as engaging as the s2k, and I think that's what keeps us all hooked once we had one.
