Engine Oil Again. : D
I was discussing thi issue with my father today and he brought up an excellent point. Let's say you have 5 quarts of oil in the engine. If you check the level when it is warm, you will see that it needs some oil because the oil hasn't had a chance to completely settle. According to what some people are saying here, you add some oil to correct it. However, you now have 5 quarts plus what you've just added. I tend to agree with him now and believe the oil should be checked when it is cold so you get the most accurate reading. He was a car mechanic for years and I trust what he says.
