Default Exhaust Mod

Hello all,

I got a chance to look under the car today....I noticed something weird that I have not seen before. There is a little piece of pipe perpendicular to the exhaust (object 1), which I am assuming that it is a resonator of sorts.

Anyways, I've read on here that if I were to straight pipe the resonator section, it would give me a little louder sound, but not obnoxious. What should I do with my exhaust? Cut out section A and B or just A or just B? I'm not too concerned about gaining HP, because this car is fine for me to run about.

That thing is affectionately called the "weenie". It's a "Helmholtz" resonator. It's there to tune out the drone that many high flow exhausts tend to have. If you keep the stock exhaust as such, you should keep the weenie. Just cut out the single cannister.

I can't tell you from personal experience, but only that I've seen it posted up here a few times from those who have cut that middle muffler out and liked the resultant sound. However, "sound" of an exhaust is such an individual thing. I'll let those who have done it, show up and post here.

2 or "B",is your resonator;I had mine removed at one time, and it makes a deeper sound, more Bass,at idle, similar to a 350 Z,"+/-";don't cut out the Helmholtz resonator,or you will get droning at speed.
Search for "Resonatorectomy".
