Tis true my fiends,

I do 110 miles a day, same drive every day and get better mpg when keeping it around 70 than I do @ 60 ish, documented 30 pmg but moslty it's always between high 28's and low 29's, that's pretty much all hwy. The worse mileage I've gotten is when I add some city driving in, it drops fast then. Did a 600 mile cruise last summer (rnd trip), a/c on, cruise set at 75 and got 30 in variable winds in the Columbia gorge.

OK. But just understand that I don't know how much my ram air mod plays a part in the better mph at greater speeds. Here in Oklahoma, it does a great job in preventing heat soak in the hot summer. But I do know that it has a 24 sq. in. crosss section of intake area. After putting it in, I notiiced a lot less head wind drag, as with a set up like this, a head wind would counter act the drag on the car with a bit of "passive supercharging". Or, at least, it should. All I can say is that in the 90 to 100 mph range, I do get beter gas mileage than at slower highway speeeds with my car. Not all of us have highways , Interstates, or turnpikes where we can safely drive these speeds. And, if that is the case, don't do it. But here in the center of the US we do have places to drive at these speeds, and the rest of the traffic is going with us.

I don't fully know why my car gets the better mpgs at the the higher speeds as it does. But, repeatedly, it does. I'm just reporting what I am experiencing.

Drove from San Jose to Napa last October, mostly 80-85 mph. On the way there - top up; the way back, top down, having fun with the car, great weather, not driving for gas milage, etc.... Overall MPG for that trip - 29.1 - best I've ever had so far in s2k; could hardly believe it!

a world without physics or knowledge is a scary place.

Those who claim that it is "simple physics" that a car's mpg will only go down as the velocity increases are sadly mistaken because there are SO many variables that need to be taken into account.

As for the S2000 getting better mileage will crusing at a slightly higher speed - usually 80mph seems to be the concensus - the theory behind it is that the engine runs leaner as the rpms approach the VTEC zone. Apparently, Prelude owners also corroborated this experience.
