If and when we go to a stand alone ECU in my car we'll probably put an F22C shortblock in under the F20C head and cams. Right now the stock injectors won't flow enough fuel to feed the extra displacement on top of the boost, but once we go stand alone and install larger injectors the shortblock swap should be straight forward. I wish someone would try this combination in an NA configuration. Do you think it would still be a drivers race?
that would be interesting to see. in my opinion, the increased torque of the F22C with the benefit of extra revs will definitely do well. from a few ap2 dynos i've seen, max whp is achieved at (or very near) redline, which means that the torque fall off isn't rapid enough to cause a decrease in power. and since acceleration is based on the effective torque at the wheel, you don't want to shift up and land in higher effective torque, because that means you shifted too late. i except that even if torque falls off for the F22C from 8-9k rpm, it would still benefit from the torque multiplier. what i can do is sort of simulate this situation and make the F22C rev to 9k and extrapolate how the torque will behave in that region. then we'll see if it's still a driver's race!!

AP2 is notably faster shifting at 8500-8600rpm than it is at 8k

Lining up with other AP2s is a lot of fun. You toast them 0-60 because you can actually make it to 60 in 2nd gear, and then you just proceed to put a car or two on them, and I'm barely modded.

^ thanks for sharing your experience with raised redline in the ap2. i'll run the sim soon, but i'm sure it'll show the same thing that you've described.

Now, who can sticky this thread? I think a summary thread locked would make a slightly better sticky, but there's a lot of good info here that shouldn't roll off.

** NOTE on the AP1 vs AP2 simulations:

After posting in a thread about VTEC engagement/disengagement, I realized that in my simulations, the VTEC engagement/disengagement points were essentially the same, which is not the case. You can see in the torque curves where you drop out of VTEC when you shouldn't have. This only affects the AP1 in the 1-2 shift, but it affects the AP2 in the 1-2-3 shifts. The effect on AP1 cars might not even be noticeable, but the AP2 would turn out a slightly better time (maybe .1s in the 1/4 mi).
