fedex cracks my hardtop
Just be persistent and don't settle for less than the 2 grand. FedEx as with any large company is going to give you as little as possible. Just stay focused and be polite and as well mannered as possible at first. Get names of every one you speak to and in the rare event someone promises you something ensure you get their contact info.
More to the point, the only way you shouldn't get the full 2k is if FedEx can put the item into a category that value is subjective, like art or collectibles. In that case you argue they shouldn't have taken your money to insure the item if it didn't qualify for the amount. Rambling aside, they took your money to insure for 2k, you should get 2k for them damaging your property.

wish that was the case, but if i tak the 2 grand, they will take my hardtop in return. I even asked them to just let me keep the hardtop so i have something to drive with and when the new top comes, they can come and pick up the damaged one.. but no luck.. thanks fedex

why didn't your seller insure it for the full value?
Wow....this becoming a crazy headache for you. Sorry about the damages. Why did the seller only insure the top for $2k if it was worth at least $3k? I assume it is the seller who will receive the coverage since they were the ones that insured it, so IMHO, you should get a full refund from the seller if you chose that way. In no way you should be cheated of any amount or at least $1500 unless you get to keep the top plus the $2k cover. What kind of hardtop did you get anyways? Good luck.

it is a seibon hardtop, not sure why it was declared for 2k, i'm guessing that is the actual cost from the manufacturer..
