I've driven both back to back multiple times. Still prefer the the F22. The missing 1k rpm doesn't keep it from singing a beautiful song and the extra hp/tq across the board is nice.
It's funny because everyone has an opinion, and if you buy the car for the engine character, it can be a defining point. I remember driving 03s and 04s back to back and thinking to myself, which one of these will I like more in 10 years? 13 years later, I still have the F22 and appreciate its character. An extra 600 rpm to AP1 redline would be nice, but given the other characteristics, I'm fine with what I chose and have never wanted to change.
Ferrari's chief engineer is correct though - the engines are marvels of tech and given the time they arrived, still stand out to this day.
