Since you added metal on top of the transponder would that interfer with the Immobilizer "recognizing" the key? I know they say you shouldn't even have metal objects hanging from the keychain.
The only reason I'm even thinking of this is because I wasn't able to start my car for a week due to an Immobilizer problem. All of my keys were not recognized by the car, thus the ECM didn't release the fuel supply, the starter turned but didn't turn over. All the while, the green key light kept blinking.

I don't see why the key couldn't be annodized, although I doubt the reds would match very well.
