First gear pulls
Afternoon all,
I was wondering - Is there any obvious danger in sending first gear pulls up to around 8k RPM with the F20C?
Assume this is with a warmed engine and clutch engaged on a slow roll (not launching).
Does the transmission actually suffer in any way?
Cheers

Well we only have a rear diff so you can just say "the diff"
And going from a stop vs a roll makes no difference to the diff. The strain on the diff comes from a hard launch. My car has probably seen hundreds of 6500 rpm launches as well and still have not used my spare diff. It helps a bit to take the "Slack" out before the launch and it seems back to back hard launches are much worse on the diff (aka pro solos tend to be hard on them, just like the miatas, when doing 4 runs back to back with super hard launches). But if you launch easy and then run it up to redline to shift it is of no real concern to the diff.
No worry about winding it up. My car has seen so many shifts at redline I could not even begin to count. Rev limiter is there to protect the motor and thus, should not be a big deal to reach it now and then.

The latter is very hard on the diff. So you either have to baby launch it, or launch like you stole it. For autox at least, a lot of courses do not reward a hard launch, but when they do, you really want to break the tires loose and then start backing out to get them to bite. Launch will be better and the diff is happier. If you screw up and rev it but launch too low, it just bites hard, shocks the hell out of the diff and falls on its nose. The S2k is not the most launch friendly platform with our non-existing torque
