Doesn't surprise me...
I rode a motorcycle for 10 years. I had two incidents where drivers tried to toy with me and possibly cause an accident. In another occassion, a driver sped past me and threw a can of beer at me which busted the walkman strapped on my belt thank goodness. We motorcyclists talked about packing old spark plugs so we can toss them into the air once in front of the offending vehicle. Now, seriously, I'm just gonna cut the crap and pack a pistol. Straight up!

[QUOTE=Dr. WOT,May 9 2006, 06:59 AM]I think the S is more prone to get picked on than most other cars.

I think you missed my point, perhaps you can read it again and try to see what I'm saying.

Either way, sorry if you were offended, nothing racial implied.

I read your post and I get what you're saying. You are probably dead on with the explanations you gave.

It just makes me mad that people think they have valid reasons to behave that way. I pity the victims of this crap and the perpetrators - they obviously have some self-esteem issues they need to work out.

I couldn't agree with you more. They seem to be pi$$ed off at life and decide to take it out on others, which is wrong. I say make the best of what you have and that's it. They're losers.

First hater of my My 2006 S2000. I noticed a burning cigarette (still 2/3
length left) on the drivers seat and the ash is spilled on passenger seat too. I
was in my friends place just for 10 min to pick up a dvd. Nothing happend to
the seat leather.

Glad that no other damage to the paint, need to check it in day light if there
is any damage. I am little disppointed because I didnt expect this in a city
that is in top 10 of safest cities in US.

Sorry man, I know exactly how you feel. A long time ago, my boyfriend and I were driving in Berkeley (east bay) and some losers pulled up along side us and chucked a 40oz beer bottle at his car. It left a nice dent on the gas cap. For no reason whatsoever - just because we had a nice car.

I've gotten a lot of negative attention myself. I like cars, and I've always worked my ass off to get them and take care of them. For some reason that seems to really piss people off. Being young, and female, only makes it worse. I always make it a point to park away from other cars because I know people don't give a damn if they smack their door into the side of someone else's car. People have no respect for other people's property - and everyone and their mother has a Hummer, Excursion or Suburban around here. They will pull in and leave 6 inches between their truck and my car. When I do park at the end of the lot, 90% of the time, I'll find someone who has gone completely out of their way to park next to me anyway, even if there are 200 other empty spaces. Apparently, that's how they get their kicks.

What ever happened to showing some respect? I know that whenever I see a nice ass car, I either give the person a thumbs up, peace sign... whatever. But NEVER have I ever thought of messing with their car just because they had something better than I did. People need to grow up. You have a problem with someone, take it up with them, not their car.

I dread the day someone messes with my S2000. I know it will happen sooner or later. Makes me want to carry a brick in the car, just in case. I live in an apartment, so my car is outside 24/7 when I'm at work, school or home. I worry about it all the time, but unless I want to sleep outside, there isn't much I can do.

Sorry people have to be assholes.
The nice thing about Dubai is that you rarely get characters like these around, reason being that you never know whose car you are messing with, and that could land people in hot soup.

Back in Singapore, I used to get the same kind of problems -- someone thinks that you have a nicer/shinier/faster car and they key it. Not everyone is like that, but there are enough people out there who think that damaging other people's property brings it down to their levels. I had a friend who parked his MX-5 on the top level of a multi-story car park at a shopping mall and found himself with a sunroof when he came back. Wasn't because he parked badly or took someone's lot or something, but probably just because it was nice and it was just polished. Couple of weeks after he got the soft top fixed, someone keyed his car -- from front guards to the rear fuel tank cover inclusive.

People here generally do things with aa bit more respect or at least some semblance of fear, but it works. I open my door carefully, and if it has to touch the other party's car, I make sure it's done gently. But it still p*sses the heck out of me when some massive American (usually a Ford, GMC, or Dodge) SUV or 4x4 parks 2 inches from my drivers side door leaving at least 4 feet of space from the car parked on their left. It's happened three times so far (yes, I've actually waited for the owner to return just so I can tell them off), and twice by women -- and their excuse was consistent -- "I needed more space so I could get out of my car and get my kid out the back seat". The guy couldn't even care less to answer, he just got in and drove off.

*grr*

Sorry, needed to rant. Nothing against women, just people who have no consideration for others.
