I just reached 1000 miles and was wandering when I need to get my first oil change. I pushed my car to vtec couple of times after 600 miles but not too much. Someone told me 3,750 miles is when I should get first engine oil. Is that true???? Thanks!!

Honda factory engineers at Tochigi and Honda's R&D center recommend leaving the factory break in oil for as long as possible up to about 10k miles if possible. The US Honda engineer says the same thing. Of course this depends on how you use the car as well. My recent Hondas have had their first oil change between 5000 and 8500 miles.

Is it the Mobil 1 Tri synthetic oil that you guys use??? Is it the best synthetic oil out there?? I think I'll go with the synthetic oil this time for my s2000. Anyway, there is like 4 different types of oil(5W-30, 10W-30, etc..)Which one is the right one for S2K??? Also where can I get them the cheapest????

I use only Mobil 1 tri-synthetic (whatever that means) 10w-30.

There was recently a lawsuit filed against Castrol by Mobil for the use of the term "synthetic". It appears that Castrol recently changed the formula for its Syntec oil (supposedly synthetic). It is actually chemically altered "natural" oil whereas Mobil 1 is entirely synthetic. Mobil lost apparently because the Castrol was sufficiently "altered" in the courts' opinion to constitute the term "synthetic." I'll stick with Mobil 1. I usually buy it from Target.

I recommend you do a search on "oil" and you will find a large amount of information and opinions. I would also recommend using your manual to guide yourself in doing the correct thing. You will get many different views on this subject. However, the first thing out the dealer and AHM's mouth when something is broke is to see if you followed the manual for breakin and maintenance.

Goodluck and I hope you find the answer you are looking for.

Snow again! I was topless yesterday and now I have to tolerate the cold. It is time to move to Florida - NOT.

Not sure if it was covered before but it seems that if you have to change your oil before 10k miles, the Honda engineers recommend going with NON-sythetic first. And only switch to synthetic later (post 10k miles) if you want.
