The AP2 is always faster except sometimes when the AP1 is faster.

You're not losing as much as you would by having to upshift sooner. Better to be making 95% of peak power at 9000rpm than to be making only 80% of peak power in the next gear up.
Thst's why bumping up the rev limit in an AP2 will yield better performance even though it doesn't give more peak power.
It has been proven that the f20c does not make whp at 9k. That is just 9k but your not making any power up there you just holding the gear. Now the f22c is making power all the way up to 9k....FYI
