I can't believe so many people got in a pissing match over which is better. Come on guys.. they're much closer in comparison than many of you make it out to be. You certainly can't go wrong with either car.

I laugh at the rants over which is better, they are BOTH great cars. I had one of each, the only thing I did not really like about the 2006 was the delay valve in the clutch. Ill be getting another AP2 soon enought but WILL NOT sell my AP1. Both cars have things I like, I acually prefer the AP1 front end because it is more stable at 150MPH. I had the 2006 at 130 and at that speed(stock VS stock) it gets light where as the 2001 I have feels better at 150 than the 06 at 130(again Stock VS Stock)

I find it funny that some people are so defencive over their opinions. If you have an S2000 you have a great car regardless of yours being the first on off the production line as a 1999 or the very last 2009 sold.

There is 1 Indisputable FACT..... The F20C held the Guiness Book World Record for Highest HP per Liter(N/A production car) for 10 years and it took Ferarri to beat it with the 458 Italia.. I love both, have had both, kept the AP1 and Sold my AP2. Will get another AP2 and will keep my AP1.

Yeah both are great cars, the olny thing is that with equally drivers the ap2 pulls a little harder then the ap1. The olny people who will disagree with that are people who just bought an ap1 and haven't read through the countless threads where we already proved the ap2 was intact faster.

People are fixated on this 9000 rpm thing... Your last 500 rpm you're typically losing power too, from what I have seen on stock dynos. Modded is good to 9 though.

You're not losing as much as you would by having to upshift sooner. Better to be making 95% of peak power at 9000rpm than to be making only 80% of peak power in the next gear up.
Thst's why bumping up the rev limit in an AP2 will yield better performance even though it doesn't give more peak power.

The best comprimise would be to swap an AP1 crank into a CR and flashpro it to 9k.

I bought an 07 ap2 in June. I honestly didn't care about ap1 vs ap2. They both have great qualities, and the differences were so minimal, you can make changes to whichever you buy. I bought mine because it had 18k miles and was absolutely mint. I also like the 06+ seats. The seats affected my decision more than ap1 vs ap2. Everyone just need to chill out and go booooooooooost. /Rant

As if 8000 RPM isn't good enough.
