first time in a ap2
Not to mention I'd really like to write a strongly worded letter to whose cost cutting decision it was to fit the original ap1 with a plastic rear window. "Come-on, Man!"
AP1 drivers are envious of all the nice features on the AP2: a temp gauge worth reading, a clock, a trans tunnel and console that looks like it belongs in the 2000s, not from an 88 fiero, a functioning stereo...

Eh, I probably would've gotten an '02 or '03 AP1 if I found one, BUT then I would've ended up buying an AP2 front end conversion (lights and bumper) but probably not the rear because I don't like the idea of cutting the car up like that.
Not the end of the world for me, I enjoy my '04 (still no VSA, DBW, etc) and suspension I have swapped out anyways (Whiteline front/CR rear sways, KWV3) so the stiffer suspension in the AP1 is negligible. The steering rack is still something I've considered swapping over along with some of the other CR parts (mid chassis brace in place of soft top and the steer rack stiffeners). What am I really losing with an AP2? 1000 more rpm? Ok, great, I don't rev to 8k on a regular basis and I doubt most users rev to 9k all the time. I'll put on an AP1 flywheel and slave cylinder and be done with it
I wouldn't say the AP2 give the driver a disconnected feel though?

I truly didn't feel it was superior and more of a "driver's car" than my AP2.
I beg to differ. I test drove and AP2 with only 10k on the clock, and it is definetly inferior to the AP1. My 02', to me, is head and shoulders above the AP2 from a dynamic standpoint, and it has a ton more miles on it. And the F20 is also more special than another 8k VTEC engine. I would rather have a K20 than an F22 if I had to settle for 8,000 rpm. I wouldn't trade my 02 for ANY AP2, year be damned. AP1 FTW...

A car that maybe your girlfriend wouldn't complain about the ride quality or might even drive without fear of ending up wrapped around a tree.

I have driven both ap1 and ap2. Stock and modded. I swear to you guys most of these differences of being so "raw" are all in your head. I would take my 07 ANY day over an ap1, I have the lighter flywheel and I have found a way of driving which never engages my CDV. I didn't really enjoy how the car oversteers itself around a corner, I felt like the limit of it around a corner was too low, cause it didn't feel stable. It could have been the ap1 I drove, but I do hope to try an ap1 on the track some time too!
All this is just my opinion though
