Default Fix for plastic window that doesn't fold up properly

The only problem that I have with my 01 is that the plastic rear window doesn't fold up properly when I put the top down. For some reason it creases vertically instead of horizontally. It appears to me that the PO ignored that fact and the plastic separated from the top material in the bottom middle of the window.

For the past year I have put the top 1/2 way down, got out of the car, pushed the plastic so that it folded properly, then got back in the car and finished lowering the top. I had to do this EVERY time I put the top down, and I've had enough of that.

So... as an experiment I taped a plastic rod to the window like this:

That has fixed the problem completely. Now I just get in the car and lower the top, the way it should work.

When the top folds down the rod doesn't appear to cause any problem, as can be seen here:

I have been using it like this with the tape for over a week now, and everything works perfectly. I may consider gluing the rod to make it look a little better, I've also considered painting the rod black so it blends in better.

I know that some will be aghast at how the rod looks, but after 1 year of getting out of the car every time I lower the top I've had enough.

Good idea, if you painted it black that would look quite a bit better.
