just something on geico's behalf, i just claimed $2400 for my reverse-pothole experience and got an illegal passing manouver ticket. moved from VA to bay area and my rate only went up $100 because the standard coverage rates are higher here.

More praise for USAA. Their service is A1 and their rates are reasonable. I had State Farm for years and then one year I was hit head on by a drunk driver in my brand new Corrado. Since the car was less than six months old they thought it would be cheaper to fix it. After 3 months in the body shop I got the car back and a month later somebody stole it. Next thing you know State Farm says they are dropping me because I am a "high risk". This sucked because unitl those two claims, neither my fault, I was claim free for 11 years.

Listen to Mingster, he know what he's talking about. Especially if you have a perfect record, and live in CA, there is not a better car insurance provider! My cost per year is $1300 (100/300, 500 ded) for two cars. Not bad, especially if you are 23 (same exact rate last year, i.e. they didn't reevaluate the s2k). Oh yeah, and they do pay off without any hassle (sister and dad both have gotten claims on accidents)

I don't see many people (if any) using AAA. They seem to have the best rates aroung - plus you get lots of freebies and discounts. Also, they do everything for you that you would normally have to go to the DMV for - like plates, registration, license, etc. Although I've got two cars and the house insured through them, the insurance for my S2K works out at only $685 a year. I recommend you check them out!

Just as a follow up to my posts, I got my insurance today. $1263 through Mercury. I didn't have time to research all the other companies you all recommended, but hopefully, if we don't have the crashing problems HA had (and so far we haven't ) I'll check them out in 6 months when I have to renew.

Thanks again everyone. I saved a grand by getting suggestions from you all. And Thanks Sondra for the "winning" suggestion.

I will never go back to geigo, my sister was using my car and had it parked on small slope in a repair shop. The car was running and in park, some how it started to roll back and hit another car. Geigo cover the claim and then at next renewal, double my rates.
Also geigo will not cover you if you use a radar detector.

I have the same multiple policy situation, but I'm only paying $300/6 months from Nationwide. They even saved me $1000/yr on my Homeowners Insurance when I got their quote a few years back.

USAA, $500 a year for the 2001 with very low deductables. We have four other cars with them... dividend check every year is a nice touch...
